10 Reasons to Visit Australia

Australia is one of the most remote countries globally, and ironically, it is also one of the most popular tourist destinations – especially among backpackers and travellers on a budget. 

Due to the distance from the United States, not many Americans tend to visit Australia. Flights are long and expensive. If you only travel for a few weeks, then wasting a few days of flying time is meaningless to many travellers. 

Nevertheless, here are several reasons why you should save your vacation and risk a long journey across the Pacific Ocean:

1. The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most famous reef systems in the world. It is famous for its rich marine life and world-class diving opportunities. You can see turtles, sharks, glowing corals and beautiful fish. It was everything it was glorified to be. 

You can spend one or a few days diving into this reef. Although everyone leaves from Cairns, leaving from Port Douglas will take you to less crowded dive sites. 

2. Sydney

Sydney is famous for its famous opera house and harbour, as well as an incredible bridge, beautiful parks, delicious food, many free activities and great surfing. 

Whether you go to Bondi Beach or hang out with others in Manly, Sydney is a great place to relax in the sun and enjoy the water. Darling Harbour has many great restaurants, and great entrainment venues, and the Chinese Garden is very relaxing. There is nothing like King’s Cross Station to spend a night with colourful locals in the town.

3. Uluru

You would not believe that a huge round rock covering eight kilometres of land would be breathtaking, but it does. Wind-blown cuts in the rock make it look like sand waves climbing in the desert. The iron in the rock generates amazing shades of reds and oranges during sunrise and sunset.

4. Barbecue

Australians are good at many things, and one of the best is throwing a barbecue. Australian barbecue is a serious tradition, and most parks and public areas have at least three barbecue areas. In fact, I don’t know what Australia would be like without barbecue. There is nothing better than a beautiful warm night, a few good beers, and some grilled-up kangaroo to make you love this place. Barbecuing is a great budget-friendly option too!

5. The Wine

Australia has some great wine regions, including Margaret River near Perth, Barossa Valley near Adelaide and Hunter Valley near Sydney. There are many good wines to try in Australia, especially Shiraz and Pinot Noir. From the major nearby cities, you can take a day trip to each wine region, or just take a trip to the wine shop, get drunk in the park… and have a barbecue.

6. Western Australia

This is one of the most famous parts of Australia. It’s really beautiful, with vast inland and miles of white sandy beaches that stretch for miles without a soul in sight. We are glad that many people have not visited Western Australia; otherwise, it might end up like the East Coast-overcrowded and overbuilt. 

Karijini National Park dwarfs Kakadu and Lichfield, and Coral Bay and Ningaloo Reef are even better than Cairns or the Great Barrier Reef.

7. Perth

Sydney and Melbourne have received everyone’s attention, but Perth can maintain its position in these two heavyweight competitions. There are great beaches, one of the largest city parks in the world, surfing opportunities and nearby Fremantle, where you can drink Australia’s best beer (Little Creatures). 

Perth is a city full of young people and has the vibe of a city in motion. Don’t miss it. Don’t forget to have a Sunday drink at the famous Cottesloe Hotel.

8. Lush Jungles

Queensland is one of the great places. Here, you will find one of the oldest tropical rain forests in the world (its history can be traced back to the time of the dinosaurs!). There are many good places for hiking, a lot of wild animals and birds (but beware of crocodiles), and some very beautiful rivers and swimming spots where you can cool off the heat. If you really want to get away from all this, head north to Cape Tribulation, where there is only you, the jungle and some ocean.

9. Surfing

Australia may not be the inventor of surfing, but it might as well have, given how ingrained it is in Australian culture. The east coast is the best place for surfing, and there are millions of places to catch good waves. You can go to places like Sydney and Bondi Beach, but we think the best place to surf is in Queensland. Noosa is considered as one of the best places to surf because both professionals and beginners can surf.

10. Beautiful Beaches

With more than 50,000 kilometres of coastline, this country is inseparable from beautiful beaches. The beaches on the east coast are much more lively than the secluded beaches on the west coast of Australia. But with so many options, you can always find a place to relax. Some include s

Australia has way more to offer than just these 10 things. I can think of 365 reasons to visit Australia. But for some reason, we are attracted by the country, and these always bring me back to beautiful Australia.
